Umbilicaria esculenta, also called rock tripe, grows on sandstone cliffs of Wulingyuan Scenic Spot. Yongding County Annals records, “rock tripe is a folk treasure and a delicious dish with the functions of removing heat, relieving fever and nourishing. It is very delicious for cooking with meat or stewing chicken.”
